Fire is a natural course of life in the mountains. Last year took our community by surprise and many learned first hand about the benefits of fire mitigation. The Chamber and the Estes Valley Board of Realtors have prepared a series of events for our community to be prepared -- mentally and physically -- for the realities of wildfire season.
Our online session starts with a forest management perspective on wildfire, then we'll share some stories about fire mitigation from residents who came very close to losing a home last year. Our fire mitigation and insurance experts will share some strategies that can help you be prepared.
We'll end by inviting you to a Walk & Talk on Saturday, May 22 from 10-12 at Bond Park, where Tony Mahon from Summit Forestry will point out fire hazards right downtown that will equip you to know what to look for at home. We'll have FireWise and Estes Valley Fire Preparedness materials for you to take home.
